It is with great sadness that we say goodbye to longtime Sandwich Marina Rampmaster Joseph Keenan.
Joseph F. Keenan, 87 of Sandwich died peacefully at home on November 11, 2018. He was the husband of Rosemary F. (Coughlin) Keenan of 64 years. Joe was born in Norwood MA, on March 2, 1941 to the late Chester E. and Mary D. (Dalton) Keenan. He spent his youth in Walpole until his marriage in 1954 when he moved to Norwood to raise his family. He enjoyed numerous summers in Sandwich until moving there permanently in 1978.
Joe traveled many years commuting to Saugus operating the Saugus Car Wash until his retirement in 1982. Joe had such a strong work ethic that even after retirement he continued working seasonally at the Sandwich Marina boat ramp, spending his free time simonizing cars and boats or mowing lawns. He loved his winter months in Clearwater FL and traveling to Maine where he visited family and friends.
Besides his wife Rosemary, as he would say “best 64 years of my life”, he leaves two sons, Michael J. Keenan and his wife Judith of Mashpee and Timothy F. Keenan and his wife Margaret of Wilton, ME; five grandchildren, Timothy Keenan, Jr., Joshua Keenan, Taryn Keenan of ME, Michael Keenan of CO and Jonathan Keenan of MA and six great-grandchildren in ME and is predeceased by his brother Francis J. Keenan of Boston, who passed away October 2018.
Joseph was a faithful parishioner of Corpus Christi Parish in Sandwich attending daily mass until physically unable. He will be surely missed by all!
